Mac Vs. PC
The battle wages on

Why choose Windows? (post #2)

Considering I have been getting tons of flack about my mac vs pc videos on youtube, I’m more than sure I’l get my share in my blog comments as well. But this, unlike some people, doesnt bother me. I expect, to a degree, people to disagree.  And among these people I expect some to be like me. Extreme. And I think thats wonderful. I love to see people get behind something they believe in. But this brings me to a point. Are not some windows users just as cultish as us mac users? Believe me, if you read some of my replies than you to would think there is a group of windows lovers just as dedicated to teh platform as us Mac people are ours. So why all the hate? Us Mac loyalists take pride in our devotion to the platform. Its more of a disgust for Windows than it is it’s users. Windows users tend to think we are attacking them when we attack windows. They take it ever bit as personnel as us Mac users do. Now, some will say thats a select group of windows users. And I say there are so many Windows users that the number is actually pretty high. This group wants to think us Mac users are narsosistic elietists because we volunteer our time to help without being compensated by Apple. And to me this just deminstrates the love of the product. Its not about making money. Its abut letting people know there is a better alternative. Can windows users honestly say Vista is better than OSX? And those that don’t, can they honestly say XP,  an out dated OS, is better? Do the windows users of the world really believe in vistas superiority over OSX? If so than what other reason beside blind loyalty could there be? Compatibility? Security? All aspects like these are a joke in either Vista or XP. Nw granted, there are some windows user that will admit that windows is bad. but these people still use windows. Why?  With bootcamp now available, the only people i see buying a pc are the people who want to build there own. And why would you want to build this nice machine only to ruin it by installing windows? No matter how nice your system is. It’s still running windows.

  1. Pay close attention to the last sentence in this post. :)

  2. Woah! Very informative. I love your new blog page. I just wish i knew more about computers than i actually do. From what i’ve learned from your videos, that Mac offers the one thing that windows fails to deliver. Convinience. Undescribable convinience in its simplicity for the users.Which from my point of view, takes a lot more thinking, technology, and a whole lot of effort on the side of the people who make macs. I am a windows user myself. But I or one have seen the beauty, and power of the humble mac and am saving up. Keep up the blogs Emeek77. and i salute to the mac!

  3. Let’s not forget those of us that build PC’s and run Linux on them :)

It’s s short walk from running Linux to running OS X and falling in love with Apple.

  4. As I’ve experienced it Eric, there is NO such thing as choosing Windows! We Macusers don’t have to ask ourselves why people choose Windows.

If we want to get anywhere, we have to ask them why they are NOT choosing the alternative!

We’ve arrived at a critical point. My generation, i was born in the early 80’s, grew up with computers. Sooner or later most of us came to use windows.

Why? Because our parents were told that computers are the future. By the time, I was in an age capable of learning about computers my parents had already started to “inform” themselves! Windows 95 was only moths away from its release and they were told it was going to be the one way!

So as i started to show interest in Computers, my parents were only to happy to not only buy me one, but to send me to expensive training lessons! Fallowed by more expensive hardware over the years.. and courses and and and..

And where there were no parents making that decision the schools stepped in. We were practically raised to be windows users. Imagine what will happen in the next 10 years, as this generations children grow old enough?

What we fight Eric, is a battle not only against fanboys or blind conviction. We fight against years of (incomplete) education, against tons of money invested in hardware over the years, against parents who only want “the best” for their children..

It took myself half a year of separation from my parents and windows using friends to realize what a pice of junk OS I’ve been using all the time. All that influence… its so mighty!

I’m not even going to start about gamers ant the PC gaming community.. I’ve been there.. spend the money.. impressed my “friends” with hardware.. fed upon the the collective ignorance.. the lies that you’re told to be true about MAC.. thats a history all by itself.

    regards
    Pat
